VICE PRESIDENT OF STRATEGIC PLANNING / SEPT 2017 – JULY 2021

Worked directly with the CEO/President of the management division to disseminate company vision and strategic plans throughout the organization. Utilized 20 years of operational experience and a creative mindset to identify and analyze performance improvement opportunities across the enterprise.  

  • Developed the framework for the Alliance project roadmap, collaborating with the executive leadership team to prioritize cross-departmental company-wide strategic initiatives and identify potential resource constraints

  • Led the strategy and execution of all leadership committees and various discovery teams, instituting organization-wide alignment, driven by findings from current vs. future-state evaluations

  • Designed an analytical reporting framework to identify trends in the market, discover operational opportunities, and encourage strategic focus at the property level, guiding the end-user to data-driven decision making

  • Partnered with the business intelligence team to create one cohesive reporting package from 12 disparate systems to expedite decision making, automate manual processes, and minimize error rate

  • Spearheaded the development of a continuous forecasting and budgeting software, bridging the gap between financial and operational details to improve accuracy, identify trends, and make planning more predictable for property operations

  • Developed and instituted a regional manager workload analysis and client complexity model, identifying workload imbalances, resulting in restructuring of portfolios, accountability requirements, and reassignments of internal resources

  • Conceptualized, developed, and deployed an asset manager mindset training program throughout the organization. Held workshops in 18 markets, training 95 regional managers and 16 regional vice presidents, strengthening continuity of leadership strategy. Held multiple workshops with corporate departments, clarifying challenges experienced by operators in a pragmatic view, providing insight to associates lacking industry experience

  • Organized and led daily crisis executive team meetings during the pandemic, setting daily strategic agendas to navigate the business impact and optimize internal resources, quickly communicating critical changes to operational leaders

  • Alliance Residential sold to Greystar in June 2020. Worked alongside the strategic services leadership team in a temporary capacity to support the merger of the two companies through July 2021. Conducted gap analysis of programs within both organizations to highlight strategic opportunities developed by Alliance

  • Led a team of 10 regional managers overseeing 17,000 units in the Phoenix market

  • Surpassed proforma goals on 16 lease-ups with 8 different development groups. Successfully executed multiple lease-ups simultaneously within close proximity for clients with competing interests

  • Achieved goals on 33 value-add assets with aggressive schedules and a wide variety of scope and reposition strategies

  • Created standards for vendors to ensure contract, labor, and services are best in quality while leveraging scale for purchasing power, translating into lower operating costs

REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS / JULY 2011 – AUG 2014

Established a purpose-driven culture that generated the highest percent of internal promotions and desire for continued learning and advancement in preparation for significant growth in the Southwest. Tackled diverse challenges for some of the company’s top clients, steering major change initiatives from strategic plan through flawless execution.

  • Led a team of three regional managers overseeing 4,000 units for 9 clients in the Las Vegas market in addition to direct oversight of Broadstone lease-up teams in Phoenix and Albuquerque

  • Created and piloted a regional manager assessment program, identifying candidates for internal promotions and succession planning, resulting in 22 internal promotions with long term success rate, 80% of which are currently in senior executive roles throughout the industry

  • Introduced innovations in strategic marketing, pricing, and associate motivation campaigns, immediately impacting rental rates above proforma, resulting in record sale prices in the Phoenix market. Broadstone Camelback, Broadstone Lincoln, and Broadstone Waterfront.

  • Challenged traditional thinking and set new vision for leasing potential in a slower market. Broadstone Santa Monica - Top performing sales team, winning Alliance national sales competition, and successful disposition with a renewed team energy for future Albuquerque pipeline

  • Orchestrated successful disposition of Broadstone assets in North Las Vegas built prior to the recession

  • Traveled to multiple markets by request of the CEO, sharing successful lease-up strategies and mentoring regional leadership teams working for internal development partners

Led a team of nine community managers overseeing 2,800 units during the GFC for Alliance’s largest JV client, AEW.

ARCHSTONE COMMUNITIES / MARCH 1994 – OCT 2004

Developed an owner mentality during the first decade of career working for a REIT. Multisite property manager of three assets, totaling 1,450 units prior to promotion to regional manager. Led a team of twelve community managers as regional, overseeing 3,900 units in the Phoenix market.
